An Android-based operating system for in-dash navigation and entertainment. A self-contained OS, Android Automotive does not use the software in the user's smartphone as does Android Auto. In 2018, Polestar, Volvo's electric performance car, was the first vehicle to employ it. In early 2023, GM and other car manufacturers announced plans to switch to Android Automotive for EV models starting in 2024. See
